CLOUD STORAGE
Connect storage deliberately, in one place.
Status: Limited rollout
Settings > Storage connections manages Google Drive and shortcuts to existing Windows OneDrive synced folders. Google Drive remains in Limited rollout. OneDrive support here is local-folder browsing through the Windows sync client, not a direct Microsoft cloud integration.
- Browse folders
- Upload files and folders
- Download files and folders
- Create cloud folders
- Review account storage usage
Connect Google Drive
- Open Storage connections
In desktop Settings, choose Storage connections, then Connect Google Drive. Unconnected Google Drive entries stay hidden in This PC and the sidebar.
- Connect on rfile.app
Sign in to the RFile account that is paired with the desktop application and connect the intended Google account.
- Enable this PC
Allow the current RFile device to use the account's Google Drive integration.
- Authorize direct transfers
When RFile asks, complete the Google authorization flow so the desktop can transfer data directly with Google.
- Return and refresh
Use Refresh connection when returning from authorization. A connected account exposes Manage Google connection and Open Google Drive; eligible direct-transfer authorization has its own control.
Browse, upload, and download
- Browse
Open cloud folders from the list and use the breadcrumb to return to an ancestor.
- Upload
Choose Upload files or Upload folder, or drop supported local content onto the cloud upload area.
- Download
Choose a file or folder download action and select a local destination. Folder downloads are prepared as a bounded job rather than a browser-page download.
- Create folder
Use New folder in the current cloud location and enter a valid name.
Add an existing OneDrive synced folder
- Set up Windows OneDrive first
Sign in and choose synced folders in Microsoft's Windows OneDrive app. RFile does not provide Microsoft sign-in, Microsoft Graph browsing, or cloud-account setup.
- Detect, then explicitly add
In Settings > Storage connections > OneDrive synced folders, choose Refresh detected folders, then Add to RFile for the intended account folder. Detection alone does not add it to the workspace.
- Browse local files
Use Open folder or the added storage entry. Microsoft OneDrive continues to own synchronization and any downloading of online-only content; availability depends on the sync client and connection.
- Remove only the shortcut
Remove from RFile hides that folder's RFile entry. It does not delete files, stop synchronization, or sign you out of Microsoft.
Availability and limits
Google Workspace-native documents use export behavior rather than a byte-for-byte download of an ordinary file. The current desktop export path limits a generated Workspace document to 10 MiB; ordinary Drive files do not share that export cap. Available export formats still depend on the item and Google API behavior.
Disconnect direct transfers removes this PC's separate Google transfer authorization; it does not unlink the RFile account's Google Drive connection. Use Manage Google connection for account-level controls. OneDrive's local-folder shortcut and Google Drive's cloud authorization are separate connection types.
